Bart Simpson is known to be a prankster, usually making Principal Skinner the target of his disdain. However, in “Pranks and Greens,” Groundskeeper Willie tells Bart about a prankster who is even better than Bart. In fact, he was the one that ultimately turned Skinner into the stone-cold, twisted individual we know today. Bart seeks out this prankster, who turns out to be Andy Hamilton, played by Jonah Hill. Bart discovers Andy is a loser, so he gets him a job as Krusty’s assistant so that he can get his life together. This proves easier said than done as Andy doesn’t really want to work, but Bart remains persistent.
It was undoubtedly a dream come true for Hill, who in 2011 said that his boyhood goal was to live in Springfield with the Simpsons (via Today). Once he found out that was impossible due to them being cartoon characters, he said he wanted to be the one who wrote what Homer said. That was likely the kernel that eventually sprouted into Hill wanting to pursue a career in entertainment.
As of 2014, he’s apparently still a fan. In an interview with Vanity Fair, Hill mentioned that he watched “The Simpsons” while filming “The Wolf of Wall Street” to get away from the darkness of the script and his character. No word on whether he ever went back to rewatch the episode he starred in.
